On 8 October 2026, PhD student Sofiia Drozd and Professor Andrii Shelestov of the Department of Mathematical Modelling and Data Analysis (MMDA) at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute presented the high-level architecture of a digital twin and progress in developing a cognitive interface at the Horizon Europe FUTUREFOR consortium meeting. The presentation covered the use of the interface to interact with and analyse geospatial products for forest monitoring.
The development aims to simplify work with geospatial data and broaden the use of satellite monitoring results. The presentation demonstrated how the interface can be used with the department’s products describing forest cover and its changes.
The geospatial products services were developed through research supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and a Ukrainian–Swiss project (DT4LC – Developing Scalable Digital Twin Models for Land Cover Change Detection Using Machine Learning). Their use within the cognitive interface connects the results of this research with the developments presented under Horizon Europe FUTUREFOR.
