During the discussion, Dr. Kholod presented GCAM, one of the leading integrated models that analyze the interconnections between the economy, energy, water resources, land, and climate. This model is used for forecasting global changes and developing sustainable development strategies, including assessing the impact of climate change on food security, urbanization, and the energy transition.

Special attention was given to the application of GCAM for Ukraine. With the support of PNNL and the U.S. Department of Energy, work is ongoing to adapt the model to Ukrainian realities, including energy security, resource use forecasting, and the impact of war on the economy and agriculture. A key part of the discussion was the modeling of the country’s recovery, the future energy balance, and the integration of modern technologies into the national economy.

We thank all participants for their insightful questions and active engagement! Special thanks to NTUU “KPI”, the University of Maryland, PNNL, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for supporting this initiative.
