International workshop dedicated to the use of satellite technologies to analyze the impact of war on the agricultural sector of Ukraine

On November 6, the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the Institute for Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the State Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the University of Maryland held an international workshop dedicated to the use of satellite technologies to analyze the impact of the war on the agricultural sector of Ukraine and to form the concept of a future international project “Satellite Technologies for Sustainable Restoration of Agriculture in Ukraine”.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Statistics Service, the State Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the World Bank, who highly appreciated the presented results and expressed their willingness to contribute to their development with their resources and expertise.

The main topics of the workshop were geospatial analysis of rural development, monitoring of damage to agricultural land using satellite data, the impact of the war on land use, the agricultural sector, and the ecology of Ukraine, as well as the results of international projects with the participation of the World Bank and NASA.

This workshop is an important step towards the restoration of Ukraine through science and international cooperation.
