$5,000 in prize money for second place in the Hack4Retail hackathon

The Perception team, which includes Ivan Krokhalov, a master’s student at our Department of Mathematical Modeling and Data Analysis at the Institute of Physics and Technology, and two students from the Institute of Applied Analysis, took second place in the Hack4Retail hackathon and received a $5,000 prize pool.

Hack4Retail is a hackathon for cowardly data science specialists from fans of technologies that change the user experience of Ukrainians, namely – from the international consulting company McKinsey & Company and Fozzy Group.

The team was given an optimization task – to calculate the placement of goods in the warehouse, using the warehouse card and check data, so that the order collector spends as little time as possible to collect orders. Yes, there were some difficulties, but they are behind us. Students of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute coped with such an atypical, but interesting, task.

We are sure that the finish will be followed by more than one finish, so, students, take an example and join the activities! Good luck!
