PhD student of the Department of Mathematical Modeling and Data Analysis of the Educational and Research Institute of Physics and Technology NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” Anton Okhrimenko, under the supervision of Prof. Nataliia Kussul, successfully defended his dissertation in applied mathematics on the topic “Deep Learning Methods for Analyzing Complex and Imbalanced Data” and received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
The dissertation research is devoted to the development of deep learning methods for processing complex and unbalanced data. The work proposes approaches to segmentation of satellite and medical images that contribute to increasing the accuracy and stability of models in practical applications.
This defense is of particular importance for the department, as it became the first PhD defense since its establishment in 2021. The department is sincerely proud of the achievements of young scientists who make a significant contribution to the development of modern areas of artificial intelligence and applied mathematics.
