Results of the German-Ukrainian DAAD project “DigiJED: digital education through joint efforts” 2022 and development in 2023

The main goal of the DijiJED educational project is to support the educational process in Ukrainian universities under martial law. The project envisages the creation of a concept of joint digital learning in the field of information and communication technologies. Students of 3-4 years of bachelor’s degree and 1 year of master’s degree, as well as Ukrainian teachers, some of whom already work at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, or who teach from Ukraine, as well as teachers from Germany and North Macedonia, participate in the educational project. The main feature of the training is that the training modules include not only courses of classic lectures through the Zoom platform, but also the performance of laboratory experiments. From NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, the lecturers of our department participate in the project – professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences. Nataliia Kussul, professor, Ph.D. Andrii Shelestov, Doctor of Philosophy Hanna Yailymova. In the 1st semester, students studied the courses “Operating Systems”, “Distributed Systems”, “Data Analysis”, “Cloud computing”, “Machine Learning” and others within the framework of the program. Professor Shelestov A.Yu. took a course on cloud technologies, namely: general concepts and infrastructure of cloud computing, familiarization and study of modern cloud platforms (in particular, Amazon Web Services – AWS, Google Earth Engine – GEE, etc.), acquisition of skills in the implementation of Data Science methods in these platforms. Overview of Amazon Web Services (general concepts, infrastructure). Computing services (Elastic Compute, LightSail) and network technologies. Data storage (Elastic Block Store, Simple Storage Service). Amazon Web Services and databases (Amazon RDS, Redshift, Athena, DynamoDB). Amazon services as part of a modern data warehouse and more. According to the results of the study, the students participating in the project received certificates. In the second semester, the continuation of the course Cloud data processing technologies is planned. Students will also familiarize themselves with the basic methods and technologies of machine learning training as part of the “Machine Learning” course, which will be taught by Dr. of Philosophy, senior lecturer of the department Hanna Yailymova. Students will study the programming of neural network algorithms taking into account the current trends in the development of this field in the era of digitalization and Industry 4.0. In addition, other teachers and professors will offer their courses to students. The courses Data Analysis, Distributed Systems & Network Programming, Operating Systems, Creating Mobile apps with Android, Machine Learning with Python will be taught by colleagues from other higher education institutions of Ukraine and the world. More information about the project – at the link. Upon successful completion of the program, students participating in the project will receive certificates that can be credited as a result of non-formal education when studying certain disciplines of the educational program.
