The department discussed the educational programmes “Mathematical Methods of Modelling, Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision” in speciality 113 Applied Mathematics for all levels of education. At the meeting the issues of developing professional and creative skills of future specialists were raised, cooperation with international institutions, training students in real scientific projects were discussed, and the topical issue of “brain drain” was also raised.
During the panel discussion the possibilities of developing project-based learning, the philosophical ethics of future design and engineering professionals were discussed, and ideas for creating a training centre at the department with the involvement of practitioners to improve core competencies and develop soft skills among students were voiced. The employers also noted the high level of basic training of students in mathematics and physics.
The lecturers of the department exchanged views with the stakeholders on the feasibility of introducing professional disciplines in pattern recognition already in the 2nd year.
